Went in to PUBLIX the other day. Had to pick up some things. Don't get me wrong I like PUBLIX. Their stores are usually bright and clean. Clean is the important word and a whole nother blog.
In my wondering thru the store I came to the meat department. A sign caught my eye. "NATURAL CHICKEN" the sign read. I picked one up and looked it over. Put it down and headed over to what I now figure are the UN-NATURAL CHICKENS. I looked one of them over. Still couldn't see any difference. Went back and forth a few times. Even thought of changing the labels on a couple. No one but the chicken would know the difference.
Now my question. All these years what the hell have I been eating?
If those chickens are natural, what are the un-natural ones?
Could the un-natural chickens be gay? Possibe but I don't think so.
Could they be RIGHT WINGERS? Don't think so there either as I have never heard of a chicken tuning in RUSH or SAVAGE.
How about 3 or 4 legs? No way! That chicken would alread have been cut up for Drum Sticks. (Look at the extra profit they would have if they could breed a chicken with 4 legs!)
Where they born in this country as opposed to mexico? As in NATURAL BORN! Most likely not.
I could go on and on but by this point you understand that I am truely concerned about what it is PUBLIX is really trying to sell me.
As luck would have it I found one of those guys in white coats. (I have seen many of them in my time. The difference is in this location they call them Butchers) I asked the butcher what a "NATURAL CHICKEN" is or was?
The butchers answer suprised me. He said, "NO DRUGS".
This brings up another concern. Does this mean that folk who have maybe done of couple,or a few, OK a bunch of drugs are UN-NATURAL? We will take that up at another time.
Anyway armed with this new information about chickens I was ready to make my choice.
Since I know how chickens live and what they eat. (it would be a short list to say what they don't eat) I went over and got us something a little healthy.
I picked up two of the most beautiful T-Bone Steaks. I know this had to make PUBLIX happy because the steaks cost more.

FYI I will be back with information on my trip to a couple of local restaurants. Remember the word CLEAN? It sure is an important word.
